Brendan Scott in the New York Post reports:

New York’s congressional delegation packed $28 million worth of environmentally friendly funding, including alternative-energy projects and even “green collar” job-training programs into this year’s federal spending bills, The Post has found.

The projects range from the bold - $3.2 million from Reps. Eliot Engel (D-Bronx) and Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan) to build hydropower turbines under the East River - to the trivial - $294,000 from Rep. Brian Higgins (D-Buffalo) to buy hybrid buses for the Buffalo region.

The article goes on to knock all the projects as typical DC earmarking. And perhaps it is, but if there was any other federal leadership on driving clean energy advances and sustainability initiatives, then this wouldn’t be the only way to get funds to the projects that need them.
