Congestion Pricing Weekend Marathon: Part 1
Mar 28th, 2008 by Jervey
So Monday is a huge, HUGE day for CP, as our City Councilmembers vote on it. Apparently many of them are still undecided. And while we’re not sure if they’ll be checking their voicemail or inboxes between now and the time of the vote Monday, it’s still worth filling them up with pleas for support of the plan.
Even the Times says so, in a rather eloquent editorial:
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority confessed this week that it is suspending a plan for $30 million in service improvements that were promised just a few weeks ago when subway and bus fares were raised. The loss of these upgrades — including extended evening service on some lines and more trains to reduce crowding — is disappointing. It is another reminder of why the State Legislature and the New York City Council need to approve congestion pricing. The system then could finally have a reliable source of income. [NY Times]
So find your councilmembers info at the City Council website and drop them a line. Now!
