City Council did it.  30-20.  Don’t have any links, as I’m currently riding the rails through a Utah canyon, on a cross-country Amtrak trip, researching a piece about the state of the American passenger rail.  But many a voicemail let it be known that City Council passed the (slightly amended) measure 30-20.  Does that count as a landslide?  (I shouldn’t even mention that here, as I just heard a story about an Amtrak getting delayed for 14 hours last week b/c it was hit by a boulder coming down this very canyon.)

Don’t have the ability to link now, but I’m sure that Streetsblog and Transportation Alternatives both have plenty of news about this.  Go find it!

[Further note:  While I’m on this assignment, I’m going to have to be even lighter on the original commentary and even less consistent in posting than normal.  I’ll be dialed back in full force by next Tuesday.  For now, I’m at the mercy of AT&T wireless and this bouncing, rattling California Zephyr railcar, so I won’t be keeping in as close touch as I normally like to. Please forgive.)
