We had a little piece in the Huffington Post today–sort of a pent up rant on the shortcomings of Earth Day. We will say that we were awfully encouraged to read another HuffPo piece by John Javna, he who once authored 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth, just the sort of lifestyle tips that we hold up as insufficient (that criticism itself a bit of a paradox, seeing as we once offered much of the same), in which Javna makes the argument that the “new environmentalism” must be about issues, and not just tips.

UPDATE:  In Salon, Joe Romm has a much more thorough, and typically on-point, breakdown of how Earth Day comes up short.
