It’s About Free Gas

We don’t spend too much time on sports here–but we have been known to get angry about cars, so we couldn’t let this item pass by without at least a brief mention. Friend and colleague Carina Molnar, aka The Green Queen Bee, saw this New Jersey Nets promotion and couldn’t resist dropping them a line and asking about how this offer meshed with their Nets Go Green campaign. Hilarity ensues:

Carina: I have one more question. I am wondering if the Nets have any sort of environmental protection policy. Gas prices are high which is clearly why your business has created this scheme for Nets fans, but does the company have any concern about the larger impacts of such a promotion?

netsbasketball: We are actually the very first green professional sports franchise

Carina: Oh really? Can you tell me more about that?

netsbasketball: On our website there is actually a go green tab that details everything that we do.

Carina: Ahhh. I just looked at it. It says you are carbon neutral. That’s great!

So the Nets don’t believe there is any conflict with being “green” and promoting gas consumption?

netsbasketball: http://www.netsgogreen.com

Carina: Thanks for your time.

Have a nice day.

netsbasketball: Your not interested in a ticket plan? (That’s my favorite part of the chat!)

Carina: Sorry. I have to go now. I might buy one later. But I think that the gas plan is somewhat irresponsible from a “green” company. So I need to think about it some more.

Read the whole exchange here. Brilliant.
