There are only 5 water supply systems in the U.S. that are still pristine and unfiltered. One of them is in NY. But natural gas drilling in New York State may have devastating effects on the safety of our drinking water. For more information about the dangers of gas drilling go to: www.WaterUnderAttack.com and www.DamascusCitizens.org
NY City Council member James Gennaro has petitioned Governor Paterson to oppose natural gas drilling within NY City’s pristine million acre watershed in the Catskill Mountains, which provides 90 percent of the drinking water for over 9 million New Yorkers, because the drilling method that would be used, called “hydraulic fracturing” or “hydrofracking,” involves inherently polluting industrial substances and processes that cannot be controlled and contained reliably. http://citizenspeak.
