Climate Change Lobby Day

Congress will be on recess from April 6-19th. That means they’ll be waiting for us to talk them into voting for strong climate legislation this year. Here’s how to get involved, courtesy of NYPIRG:
Hello NYS Allies,
Last week we hit the coal executives. Our next step is to take our demands for a carbon-free world to our representatives. It is essential that we get effective and comprehensive climate change legislation passed this year.
We all know that without an immediate and dramatic reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions, the consequences will be dire and perhaps irreversible. At best, the price of our inaction is several billion dollars in infrastructure damage caused by rising sea levels and severe weather events. At worst, it is our very way of life.
We must show Congress that the people of this state support bold climate change legislation and that they should too. In fact, some of our members of congress have already started working on a climate change bill, so it’s even more important that we weigh in on this issue while they are still in the drafting stage.That’s why NYPIRG is organizing a series of lobby visits with key members of the New York State Congressional Delegation. Congress will be on recess from April 6th – 19th. This means that they will be back home in their district offices just waiting to meet with us.
I am writing to invite you to participate in these lobby visits. NYPIRG will schedule the visits and provide training and materials to all who participate in lobby day activities.
Our goal is to conduct training sessions in NYC, Albany, Long Island, and in several upstate locations during the week of April 6 – 10. Lobby visits will be scheduled for the following week, April 13-17.
